Art by Emma

Hi there! I’m Emma. Adventurer. Lover. Artist. Mummy. Educating without school. Living. Loving. Being.

I’ve been dipping my toe into “art” since I went to study fine art and design at uni when I was 19. Coming from a line of successful artists meant I had big shoes to fill – and never quite managed. I’ve never felt good enough. Never felt like an “artist” and I’ve never actually displayed anything I’ve painted of my own before. But I LOVE painting and creating, and I would love to be able to describe myself as “artist”. So here I am, faking it until I make it and hoping that this will be a push into ‘art’…

Bardo.

“Bardo”- a gap, a pause, between one state and another. When we are most vulnerable and exposed we can discover the creative potential of our lives.

According to Tibetan Buddhism, all life and death take place in the gap, or bardo, between one state and another.

A caterpillar cannot turn into a butterfly until it completely destroys itself. And what in the mean time? While it waits to transform from soup to butterfly? What of the Phoenix who is not quite ready to rise from the ashes? What of the mother who was mother of babies and is now… still mother. But… different.
